Base shoe (channel)
The glass sits in a metal channel fastened to the floor or stringer. It gives the cleanest, most frameless look and works indoors and out.
Standoffs
Round fittings hold the glass off the side of the stairs or floor edge. They leave the treads clear and make a strong design statement, in black, stainless or brass.
Spigots and posts
Spigots are short posts that clamp the glass from below. Post-and-clamp systems use full-height posts between panels. Both are flexible and work well for decks and pools.
Glass type
Railing glass is tempered or laminated safety glass. Laminated glass stays in place if it breaks, which is why it's often used where people are below.
Code basics
Guards on stairs, lofts and balconies have to meet height and strength rules, which are stricter for commercial buildings than homes. Stairs also need a graspable handrail. We design every railing to meet the code that applies to your project.
